ABOUT

Lydia Sax is a London based Theatre Director. She is the current Artistic Director of the OSO Arts Centre.

​

Her recent credits include 'Enigma Variations' (OSO Arts Centre), 'Things I Know to be True' (OSO Arts Centre), 'The Revlon Girl' (OSO Arts Centre), 'Once Upon a Bridge' (OSO Arts Centre), 'Relativity' (Upstairs at the Gatehouse), 'Sabbath: A Tragedy of Witches' (OSO Arts Centre), 'Text & Delete' (OSO Arts Centre, Kings Head Theatre, Etcetera Theatre) and 'A Hundred Words for Snow' (OSO Arts Centre). She is currently directing a revival of Joe Penhall's Blue/Orange, which runs 29 April-10 May 2026.

She has been nominated twice in the category of Best Director for the Fringe Theatre Awards 2025/6 (results pending), and her productions have received a further four nominations.​

Under her tenure at the OSO, Lydia has dedicated herself to providing opportunities for other artists, building a vibrant community through her Youth Theatre, Writers Scheme, Networking Events, Scratch Nights, Actors' Studio, and Artist in Residence initiatives. Her seasons have attracted the largest audience numbers in the theatre's history. â€‹

With Kat Stidston, Ellie Gallimore, Nicole Cuthbert and Catherine Cope, Lydia founded theatre company In Her Element Ltd., and acted as Artistic Director from 2021-2024.

Lydia received a distinction in MA Theatre Directing at East 15 in 2021, and a first class degree in English Literature from Exeter University in 2020.
